South Texas Retreat

Watch the sun rise over the lake while birds sing in the brush. Spend the day casting for your next big fish story. Come see us on the shore of Choke Canyon Reservoir, between San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

Things to Do
We offer first class fishing and birding, as well as swimming, camping, geocaching, hiking and places to play basketball, tennis and soccer. You’ll see lots of wildlife here, too. Visit for the day or stay for the weekend!

Fishing & Boating

Reel in largemouth bass and catfish from your boat or our shore! You do not need a fishing license to fish from shore in a state park.

Both units have boat ramps. Calliham has fish cleaning shelters and a rock jetty.

Camping
Stay overnight at a campsite with water and electricity, walk-in tent site, or cabins. Sponsored youth groups can rent our group camp.

Birding
The park is a stopover for migrating birds. Look for everything from water birds to songbirds along the park’s Birding Trail.
